Officers are proposing to spend almost £70,000 on redoing the entrance way to the Haling Way (a principle which we welcome). However, the plans still contain compromise that can and should be avoided.
Cambridge Cycling Campaign would like to see a direct entrance diagonally across the left-most bay, so that cyclists can go directly into the path.

Cyclists are to be encouraged to use this path at what is a blind corner. The Cycling Campaign has been promoting a better entrance at the other end.
Certain officers think that an entrance at the other end would be dangerous because of the danger of reversing vehicles. But this photo shows that there is a whole extra car's length for reversing!
The entrance/exit to this path should be right down the middle of the picture, via the currently vacant car parking space.
Potentially space on-street to displace 2-3 of the car parking spaces at the entrance to the Haling Way.
